Reconstitution & Storage for Research Peptides
Handling lyophilized peptides
Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptides are shelf-stable for months when kept cold and dry. Once reconstituted, the clock starts.
Reconstitution
Use bacteriostatic water for multi-use vials. The 0.9% benzyl alcohol inhibits microbial growth across repeated draws. Add the diluent slowly down the vial wall; never spray directly onto the powder. Swirl, don't shake.
Dilution math
Concentration = peptide mass ÷ diluent volume. Reconstituting a 10mg vial with 2mL yields 5mg/mL. Always document the diluent volume on the vial label so the concentration is reproducible.
Storage
| State | Temperature | Window |
|---|---|---|
| Lyophilized | -20°C | Months |
| Reconstituted | 2–8°C (fridge) | ~2–4 weeks |
Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Protect from light. For laboratory research use only.
